What?! How can contrast build community?!
Diversity strengthened my art business, and I've created a download of ideas for you to put to use building community around your interests. My guide for Contrast Builds Community has already been sent out to Community members. If you’d like this and the previous guide, but aren’t on the list, click here to sign up.
I’m part of a small group because someone was brave enough to ask if we could get together. (A note to all of us, brave = vulnerable) What we have in common: we are women running small, creative businesses. What we don’t have in common: no one else paints and produces paper products from her designs.
By working with a group of people with diverse businesses, I’ve been part of multiple collaborations that bring income, shared and been the recipient of skills & knowledge, gained a larger view on how to run my business, brainstormed and idea-generated for myself and others, found local support for problem solving (some things are SO easy for other people!!), and gained new friends and dinner invites. I’ve learned to ask for help, to offer help, and to share techniques and equipment.
Being part of a local, creative entrepreneur group is a lifeline for this solo-entrepreneur! There is inspiration in gaining and giving, and this small but mighty group means I am not alone.
