I always love the burst of color and inspiration my garden supplies. Summer is fleeting and orange poppies even more so when the rain hits. I try to sketch and take pictures when my garden is at its peak so tide me over on gloomy days.

I’m slowly building my repertoire of orange paints because I use them both for garden and marine paintings. I love to mix paints, and my oranges blend well with reds or yellows.  

Currently my two favs from Daniel Smith are
Daniel Smith Pyrrol Orange–this will blast your eyes out and just nails the orange poppy!
Daniel Smith Permanent Orange–this is a more subdued, softer hue.
Both colors mix beautifully together on the wet page.
